The department is involved in caring for patients regardless of their age or health condition, and maintains a sustained, enduring and trusting relationship with the patients and their family by understanding community level factors and social determinants of health. It includes home care, hospital care, specialist care along with regular follow-up with consideration of the impact of health on patient’s family.

The department conquered challenges of patient care in Covid and post-Covid era, which was important for the service of the society. The department, with its complete team, was also involved in online as well as off-line care of general patients along with Covid patients, providing them preventive care, including routine check-ups, health-risk assessments, immunization, screening tests, and personalized counselling to encourage healthy lifestyle. Research is an integral part of the department, which includes study of incidence, prevalence, behaviour of diseases, financial implications and their impact on entire family.
