Department of Nuclear Medicine

Overview

Nuclear Medicine is a branch of medicine which use radioactive substances in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. In this speciality, we use relatively very small amounts of radioisotopes to diagnose and treat diseases. Nuclear medicine is divided into diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine.

The diagnostic nuclear medicine is based on the detection of the emission rays, which was generated by administrating the small amount of the radiopharmaceuticals to the patients by various routes. For detection of emission rays we have special types of the cameras. Nuclear medicine provides the functional and molecular level information.

About Us

The department is actively involved and strongly committed to capacity building and human resources development in hospital administration at national and international stages. The post graduate degree MD HA program is started to develop and enhance problem solving and decision making abilities of students when working in healthcare organizations, awareness of socio - economic environment of hospitals, analysis and logical data interpretation, data processing skills, marketing, operations, quality and strategic management skills. The curriculum will help students learn the best practices in hospitals in following area:

In Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine, we have advance Dual Head Gamma Camera with SPECT facility (GE discovery NM 830) and PET-CT system (GE discovery). We are regularly performing the gamma scans and PET-CT scan for different conditions on regular basis. Our hospital is approved by various issuance schemes and Govt employees. We have a very special facility of PET-CT guided Biopsy and FNAC which are conducted by well trained Nuclear Medicine doctor at our site. He has successfully performed 350 biopsies at our site.

In therapeutic Nuclear Medicine, we have facility of bone pain palliation, radio iodine therapy, Radiosynovectomy, Patch therapy for keloid lesions. Our Nuclear Medicine department is headed and manage by Dr. Tarun Kumar Jain, Who completed his MD Nuclear medicine in 2014 from AIIMS, New Delhi. He also did the three years senior residency form PGI, Chandigarh. He is also trained in Intervention Nuclear Medicine from PGI and AIIMS. He is regularly reporting the PET-CT and gamma camera patient’s reports at our centre. He is the active member and key feature of the Tumor board and lymphoma round. He has developed the concept of the intervention Nuclear Medicine at our set up
