Overview

The Department of Community Medicine aims at preparing a Family Physician who has training and skill to assess health status of people, their health needs and demands and use this information to plan, prioritize and implement Primary Health Care, and evaluate it. The family physician is the health team leader, friend, teacher/educator having social accountability.

The department has state-of-the-art Infrastructure as per guidelines of MCI. The Department has ample space for the faculty, office and supportive staff with office equipment and access to broadband internet connection, computer with power backup and printer.

This department is also equipped with Statistical, epidemiological and Health Education(IEC) Cell with facilities for internet, computer, printer, data analysis, preparation of IEC material.

We have two Demonstration Rooms with a seating capacity of 75 students in each; equipped with audio-visual aids like: LCD projector, Over Head Projector (OHP), slide projector, black board etc.

We have a spacious museum for practical teaching, well stocked with charts, models/specimen and exhibits and instruments with sections on: Nutrition, environment- water, air, sewage, helminths, insects, pesticides, Mother & Child Health and family welfare, vaccines etc. A passage is having more than 100 charts mostly prepared by the students on various important topics of Community Medicine, helping all to learn.

There is also provision for a spacious public health laboratory, with working tables for 50 students at a time; equipped with glassware, instruments, microscopes- dissecting & oil immersion,  facilities for entomology and staining of specimen; prepared microscopic slides on microbiology, parasitology  of public health importance.

The Department of Community Medicine has a spacious hall for holding seminar/journal club for postgraduates, equipped with audio-visual aids and a well-stocked library having more than 200 books and journals related to Community Medicine/Public Health.

There is a room for PG students with furniture and lockers for their belongings.

There is Rural Health Training Centre(RHTC) Vatika which is a Rural field practice area of the Department for providing comprehensive health care (OPD and IPD) to rural community, training UG/PG students and interns. It is a self-contained unit with residential accommodation for the students, interns, doctors and supportive staff. And an Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) situated at Pratap Nagar, Sanganer catering for primary health care to underserved/ needy slum population and used as field practice area for UG/PG, interns etc.
